in Radcliffe has died. The animal, called Aslan, was so badly neglected vets had to put him to sleep in order to end his suffering.Aslan was discovered by a passer-by on Eton Hill Road on January 5.

He had a serious flea infestation, mouth and feet ulcers as well as kidney issues.Tests also found he was severely anaemic.Animal organisation Kitty Rescue Bury say they did “everything they could” to save him but his condition was too severe.He died the day after his rescue – cuddling into a volunteer’s arms on the way to the vets.

His owners have not come forward.A spokesman for the animal organisation said: “We are so thankful to the kind lady who found him and helped him.“At least he didn't die alone, cold in a wet carpet.
