Car hurtles down embankment towards Scots railway as five people escape serious injury

Five people escaped serious injury after their car hurtled down an embankment on a collision course with a railway track.ScotRail services between Perth and Ladybank have been suspended while crews work to remove the vehicle from the scene, after it plunged towards the railway at around 2.18pm today.

British Transport Police believe those hurt in the crash, near the Fife town of Newburgh, to be "walking wounded". Services heading towards Dundee and Aberdeen from Stirling are not affected - but journeys between Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness have been cancelled.

Scotrail tweeted it has been working to arrange rail replacement coaches that will travel between Inverkeithing and Perth to allow passengers to continue their journeys.
