Boris Johnson has returned to work at Downing Street today - and launched a rallying call to continue with the lockdown to prevent a second spike of infections that would overwhelm the NHS.
Speaking from a podium outside Number 10 Downing Street, he began by thanking those who had stepped up in his absence, including Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who led the government during this illness.
He admitted he had been “away from my desk for much longer than I would’ve liked”.
