BBC put ‘woke’ disclaimers at front of Blackadder and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

BLACKADDER and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air are the latest BBC shows to carry a “woke” ­disclaimer warning of discriminatory jokes.

Rowan Atkinson’s Blackadder — first aired in 1983 — uses one derogatory term for a Spaniard and one for black people. The disclaimer before the comedy says: “Contains discriminatory language which some viewers may find offensive.” The same was also placed on 2020’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion episode.

Rebecca Ryan, Campaign Director, at Defund the BBC, said: “The corporation is clearly committed to only representing the third of the country who support these moves whilst expecting the rest of us to keep paying.
