BBC Breakfast viewers broke down in tears as Dan Walker bid farewell to the show today, Tuesday May 17.The popular 6ft 7ins presenter announced last month that he was leaving the BBC after six years for a new role at Channel 5.
Dan, 44, admitted he hadn't slept well before his final show and had managed only "two hours sleep and 46 minutes." Before the show started, he videoed himself making a final stroll into the BBC studios in Salford saying he was armed with cakes for the BBC Breakfast team.
He said: "We have lots of great guests on the show. I am going to enjoy the last one." As the show wore on, Dan started to say goodbye to his colleagues as well as being shown his best bits and messages of support from his famous friends and members of the public he has spent time with.
At the end of the show, as the crew stood around the red sofa, he sat between Sally and former co-host Louise Minchin who returned to say goodbye.
