Aberdeen University principal apologises after breaching lockdown by staying at son's home during trip to Wales

University has apologised to students after deciding to stay at his son's home during a trip to Wales. George Boyne, principal and vice-chancellor of Aberdeen University said he made the trip for a private health matter on Friday and was unaware his actions broke local Covid-19 lockdown guidance.

He informed police of his actions and was reassured no action would be taken against him.In an apologetic email to students, he said: "On Friday I travelled down to Wales for a private health matter, to see a consultant I have been seeing for some time.“For the purposes of the visit I have been staying at our house in Wales which is occupied by our son.
