Viewers were very intrigued to find out the story of two men Michael O’Sullivan and Matt Murphy who got married to each other, but were never actually in a romantic relationship.

In fact, the two men were just the best of friends, who decided to get married as a way of avoiding a huge inheritance tax bill.

The story of Michael and Matt went global, as the same-sex marriage, despite their reasoning, was met with much resistance from lawyers, government officials, and the general public.

Their unconventional love story was told in an RTÉ documentary titled Let The Rest of The World Go By which aired on Monday 11 January, and people had plenty to say about it.
