The Oscars‘ viewership has rebounded after last year’s historic low. Variety writes that the 94th Academy Awards drew 16.6 million viewers on Sunday (March 27), up 58% from 2021′s record-low audience of 10.5 million. Click inside to read more… The outlet adds that according to Live + Same Day Nielsen data, the annual awards show averaged a 3.8 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, up 73% from last year’s telecast.
Despite the impressive growth, the 2022 Oscars remain the second-worst in terms of viewership and ratings performance in the history of the show.
The Oscars were hosted by Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall and featured a star-studded list of celebrity presenters.
Despite the history-making wins throughout the show, the most headline making moment was the confrontation between Will Smith and Chris Rock.
