As well as viewers at home, Alex, 43, was left in tears after a montage of Matt’s best moments from the nine years that he’s hosted the programme aired on Tuesday night's episode.
Matt told Alex as he spoke of their friendship: “I’ve watched your life change as well, you’ve got married and had two children.
