Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Swift then followed up with more details on the opening song by taking things over to Instagram, where she posted a reel explaining the inspiration behind Midnights‘ first track. “I happened upon the phrase ‘Lavender Haze’ when I was watching “Mad Men”, and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool,” she said in the video. “And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s, where they would just describe being in love.” She went on to explain, “If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful. “I think a lot of people have to deal with this now, not just like ‘public figures,’ because we live in the era of social media,” she said, “And if the world finds out that you’re in love with somebody, they’re gonna weigh in on it.” READ MORE: Report: Taylor Swift
