By Elaine Low Senior TV Writer Walt Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that they are seeing “encouraging signs” in return to normalcy in China amid the ongoing global coronavirus outbreak, and plan to re-open Shanghai Disneyland on May 11.
Among the strict social distancing measures that will be implemented are masks, temperature checks, contact tracing and other early detection systems.
Disney has closed its theme parks in the U.S. — Disneyland and Walt Disney World — until further notice. All of its parks and resorts worldwide, from Paris to Hong Kong to Tokyo, are currently closed, though Shanghai Disney Resort as of March 9 partially resumed shopping, dining and other recreational operations.
