A serving police officer has been hauled before a court after stealing uniform from his own colleagues. PC Edward Ballantyne-Rowland, 25, who works in GMP's Oldham district, stole boots, jackets, and even epaulettes belonging to his fellow officers.

Appearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court today, the officer was sentenced for three counts of theft having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. The first charge relates to the theft of a pair of Viper Tactical Venom Boots worth £79.95 and belonging to a PC Gilham. PC Ballantyne-Rowland also admitted stealing a jacket and epaulettes
