Wythenshawe's Bingo Hall hold the fond memories of thousands who have lived on the estate.Some of the biggest names in showbiz graced the crimson carpets, back when it was a famous cabaret club, from the 1960s to the 80s.The likes of Dusty Springfield, Roy Orbison, and Tommy Cooper all headlined the Golden Garter during its heyday.And, in more recent times, the sound of live music and dancing was replaced by the calling of numbers and eager shouts of 'bingo.'What was formerly Gala, and now Buzz Bingo, provided a social lifeline for many, as the only entertainment venue in the town centre.Every week, players of all ages would meet there with friends.
