Manchester United legend Paul Scholes claims Inter Milan were interested in signing him after the European Championship in 2000.
Scholes was 25 at the time of England's group ejection from the Euros in Holland and Belgium, but well established as one of the standout attacking midfielders on the continent.
The United midfielder had scored 12 goals in United's second successive Premier League title-winning campaign in 1999-00 that they ended 18 points clear of runners-up Arsenal.
Scholes was a guaranteed pick in an immortal midfield quartet along with Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, and David Beckham that was only disrupted by the club record addition of Juan Sebastian Veron in 2001.
