But heartbroken Bethany alleges that midwives refused to help the tot because he was born at 21 weeks gestation. British Association of Perinatal Medicine advises it is 'not appropriate' to attempt to resuscitate babies born before 22 weeks.This is because, usually, the lungs are not fully developed enough therefore survival is not considered possible.Staff at Hull Woman and Children's Hospital allegedly told Ms Lamming, 'I'm sorry, we can't do anything for your baby'.Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said it adheres strictly to the guidance previously mentioned.
