Shukri Abdi.Shukri, a pupil at Broad Oak Sports College in Bury, drowned in the River Irwell, near Bury town centre, on June 27 last year.

At an inquest into her death earlier this year, Shukri's mother said her daughter - who was born in a Kenyan refugee camp to Somalian parents before moving to the UK in January 2017 - couldn't swim and was 'scared' of water.Shukri's loved ones have questioned the police investigation.They said they do not believe her death was an accident.Greater Manchester Police insists, however, it was was an 'incredibly tragic incident' and that there were no suspicious circumstances.More than a million people have now signed a 'Justice for Shukri Abdi' online petition.The inquest hearing is due to resume at a later.
