A man has slammed a 'selfish' city resident who chained a wheelie bin to the road to prevent others from parking there. Chad Miah was searching for a parking space before attending a friend's wedding on February 27 - only to discover the bin padlocked to ground.
He found there was very little space outside the groom's Handsworth address to leave his car, with only one spot left near the house on the jam-packed street.
However, the black bin was deliberately planted in the way to stop over vehicles from pulling up.As he went to move it, he was astonished to realise it was secured to the road with a chain and padlock. This tactic is seen regularly in Handsworth, with residents also using cones to reserve spaces outside their homes - despite being public roads.Despite his efforts, the bin couldn't be budged.Speaking to Birmingham Live, Chad said: "My mate lives opposite and he was getting married on that day. "I went to move the bin, but realised the person who did this had drilled it to the ground with a bolt and hook.
The bin was attached to a metal chain and had a padlock on it."They must have gone through some effort to do it, just to save a parking space.
