A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the racial abuse suffered by Ashley Cole during Man City’s FA Cup tie at Swindon Town.
Former England international Cole was working as a pundit for ITV on the game on January 7, which City went on to win 4-1. The abuse is alleged to have taken place close to where Cole was situated with the ITV team as they analysed the match, with Wiltshire Police confirming they had arrested a man from Swindon on Saturday morning.
A statement from Swindon Police said: "We have worked closely with the club and ITV in our investigation and this morning a 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
He was taken to Gablecross where he remains in custody." We want your views, Blues. You can become even more involved with our Man City coverage by signing up.
