With Love Island renewed for another year, it’s reported that the show’s bosses are already eyeing up former contestant Maura Higgins as possible a replacement for the show’s current host, Laura Whitmore.
They also have their eyes on Maya Jama, it’s understood. According to The Sun, TV chiefs are said to want to ‘revamp’ the 2022 series, meaning Laura’s role is ‘hanging in the balance’ after her ‘lukewarm’ reception.
This comes after the show had the lowest viewing figures in recent years. This year’s final drew in 299,400 viewers while back in 2019, more than 372,000 people tuned in to see Greg and Amber walk away with the title and the £50k prize.
