Love Island axes 'disgusting' challenges and Casa Amor postcard after backlash

Love Island bosses have confirmed there will be no more food challenges on the show after viewers dubbed them 'disgusting'. Fans of the ITV dating show don't have long to wait until the show is back on screens, as rumours fly about who is set to enter the villa in a matter of weeks.

So far, rumoured candidates include Zara McDermott ’s brother Brad, former WAG Sophie Draper, and Ronan Keating’s daughter Missy.Love Island executive producer Mike Spencer answered some of fans burning questions, as he hinted what is in store for the upcoming series.

While answering questions during a Q&A on Reddit, he was asked by one fan: "Why the spitting food challenges. I beg youse to stop, such a waste of food!

I really think doing challenges with incentives or couple building activities would be so much better."Executive producer Mike Spencer replied: ‘We are stepping away from the food challenges as we know them.’Mike also hinted that the savage Casa Amor postcard twist might not be featured in this year’s series."We have published our duty of care protocols very publicly and we have an incredible welfare team on the series," he added."I agree we have to be incredibly considered when making editorial decisions.
