JOHN Lydon has branded Danny Boyle’s Sex Pistols biopic "disrespectful s**t" amid threats to take legal action against its production.

The former rocker, best known as Johnny Rotten, has revealed he's less than impressed with the director's attempt to bring his musical story to life.

The six-part series - simply titled Pistol - is based on guitarist Steve Jones' memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol. The forthcoming FX drama will cover the band's early rise to fame in West London and their link to Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's SEX shop in King's Road.

Toby Wallace will play the book's author, Steve, while Louis Patridge takes on the role of bass player Sid Vicious and Anson Boon stars as Lydon.
