As the summer holidays begin today Jet2 will operate its ‘busiest ever weekend’ as thousands of Brits jet off abroad. Almost 150,000 customers will be travelling to popular holiday destinations including the Canary Islands and Turkey with the airline this Saturday and Sunday.

This summer is Jet2’s biggest holiday programme, with capacity increasing by 14per cent compared to summer 2019. Although a lot of passengers have faced travel disruption this year with many airlines cancelling services, Jet2 has not cancelled any flights due to staff shortages.

The airline took a proactive approach when travel resumed after the pandemic and recruited staff ahead of the bounce back. Jet2 began its recruitment drive in autumn 2021, helping it to prepare for the surge in demand this spring and summer.
