The cat didn’t have his tongue. Hugh Jackman has revealed why he didn’t take up an offer to star in ‘Cats.’ The “Wolverine” star took the high road in explaining why he turned down a role for the universally panned, star-studded adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit Broadway musical.

Director Tom Hooper “rang me early on because we did ‘Les Mis’ together, and there were a couple of options there based on availability and time, and I really...yeah, I just wasn’t available at the time,” Jackman explained to The Daily Beast.

The 51-year-old actor, who recently starred in critically acclaimed big picture musicals such as “Les Misérables” and “The Greatest Showman,” didn’t want to punch down at the 2019 film that starred Dame Judi Dench,

This week’s offering is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest, Cats. The musical, which was first staged in 1981, has played to millions all over the world in the 39 years since, and this weekend, web audiences will have the opportunity to see a production of the hit.
