David Alan Grier is a Tony winner! The 65-year-old actor took home the first award of the night during the 2020 Tony Awards on Sunday (September 26) at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. David won the award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role as Tech Sergeant Vernon C.
Waters in A Soldier’s Play. This is David‘s first Tony win after four nominations. “To the other nominees, tough bananas!
I won!” David jokingly said in his acceptance speech. Other nominees stepping out for the awards show included Blair Underwood, Ian Barford, Jane Alexander, and Cora Vander Broek.
