The Crown's breakout star Claire Foy won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama. (The other nominees were: Evan Rachel Wood of Westworld, Winona Ryder of Stranger Things, Caitriona Balfe of Outlander and Keri Russell of The Americans.) Foy, who portrayed a young Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series, gave a nod to Her Majesty for not only inspiring her role, but also for being an inspiration for women to be "at the centre of the world".
The 32-year-old actress also gave a shoutout to her daughter, an "extraordinary woman in the making".Foy said in her speech:"But I really, really, really wouldn't be here if it wasn't for some extraordinary women, and I'm going to thank them.
