Child Benefit and Tax Credits payment dates may be early for some in August - are you affected?

Child Benefit is usually paid every four weeks, either on a Monday or a Tuesday, however, there is an English bank holiday at the end of August which will affect Scottish payments that fall on that date.

Anyone due their Child Benefit payment on Monday, August 31 will now receive it on Friday, August 28. The same applies for anyone expecting a Tax Credit payment on that date.

The reason for the change is that there will be no payment processing on August 31 and transactions will now be made the previous working day on Friday, August 28.
