CBBC responds after receiving 'hundreds' of complaints over same-sex kiss on TV drama

After being applauded by viewers and LGBT rights charity Stonewall for airing a same-sex kiss on CBBC drama The Next Step, the channel has now released a statement defending the decision after receiving complaints from viewers.

It seems not everyone was in full support of the story line on the Canadian mockumentary-style drama and there were complaints.

In fact for CBBC to release a statement there will have been "more than 100 complaints", reports Metro.co.uk.
