Burglars target shop just weeks after beloved owner's tragic death

Ainsworth, just after 7pm last night (Wednesday January 27). According to cops, four men managed to get into the shop through a window but nothing was taken.

No arrests have been made, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The shop belongs to Premila 'Prem' Varsani, the widow of Devendra 'Dave' Varsani, 47, who died from Covid-19 earlier this month.

The village of Ainsworth was devastated by Dave's death, with the shopkeeper described as a 'pillar of the community'. Following the reported burglary, Prem and Dave's daughter Anvi told the Manchester Evening News : "It just seems like one thing after another at the moment.
