Lotthar Matthaus has suggested that there is at least one better player for Bayern Munich to sign in the transfer window than Leroy Sane.

The German champions have been tracking Sane for more than a year and were confident of signing him last summer before he suffered a serious injury during Manchester City's season-opener with Liverpool in the Community Shield at the beginning of August.

Sane remains a target for Bayern - who recently extended the contract of coach Hansi Flick until 2023 - although changes in his representation haven't gone down too well with the Bavarian giants.
