Baldwin shooting is a ‘wake-up call’ says Kin actor

Fresh off the back of using real firearms with blank rounds while shooting Kin, actor Sam Keeley says his ‘blood ran cold’ when he heard cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by a prop gun fired by Alec Baldwin on a movie set in New Mexico. ‘It’s a heartbreaking tragedy and should never have happened,’ Mr Keeley tells EVOKE. ‘The amount of times I’ve been handed firearms with blanks in them for various different shows. ‘There are so many safety elements when there’s a weapon on set.

Whatever link in the chain went wrong, I hope they clock it. It’s enough of a wake-up call to know that these things happen.’ Mr Keeley, who plays loudmouth Eric ‘Viking’ Kinsella in the RTÉ crime drama, says on-set safety was no issue while shooting Kin.
