The city's Chinese Centre, based in Ardwick, has also raised more than £16,000 for the NHS. Director Jenny Wong delivered more than 3,000 different types of face masks, 1,000 aprons and 1,300 pairs of gloves to Manchester council on Tuesday (April 14).
They will be used by social care teams across the city. Centre members said they wanted to help after pupils at St Mary's Church of England Primary School, in Moss Side, wrote messages of support to the Chinese community back in February when Wuhan was in lockdown.
