Crippling union strikes, power cuts, and eventually the winter of discontent saw UK society doom laden. It also saw the end of my parents' marriage.
The fall apart came in 72 and the decree absolute in 74. At a time when being in a one parent family and divorce, still, incredibly, carried a stigma, the impact on a shy 14-year-old was shattering.
