The Long Blondes have reformed for a handful of live shows as they continue to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut ‘Someone To Drive You Home‘.2021 marked the milestone, with Rough Trade re-issuing their classic as a deluxe version at the tail end of last year. Now, the Sheffield duo will extend the celebrations into 2022.Kate Jackson (lead vocals) and Dorian Cox (lead guitar and keyboards) have today (June 8) announced a handful of new gigs, which will be the first time that they’ve performed together as band since splitting up in 2008.The original line-up was comprised of Jackson, Cox, Reenie Hollis (bass guitar and backing vocals), Emma Chaplin (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) and Screech Louder (drums).Jackson said in a statement [via Clash]: “I can’t wait to stand on stage and look over at Dorian while we perform our songs again for the first time since 2008.

Green Man Festival has announced the second wave of artists for their 2022 line-up.The Brecon Beacons, Wales festival will return for its 20th anniversary event from August 18-21.With Kraftwerk, Michael Kiwanuka, Beach House, Metronomy and Bicep already set to headline this year’s festival, Green Man has now announced another wave of acts for their 2022 event.Tune-Yards, Sofia Kourtesis and Nia Archives lead the latest additions to the line-up, with Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul, Mary Lattimore, Donny Benét, Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18 (who will be accompanied by the National Orchestra of Wales), Penelope Isles, Nathan Fake and The Long Blondes also on the bill.Charles Watson, Art School Girlfriend, Cerys Hafana, Ural Thomas & The Pain, John Mouse, El Goodo, Mandrake Handshake, Joe & The Shitboys, Honeyglaze, Eli Smart, Bonnie Kemplay and Social Gathering are also set to perform.Further line-ups of music, science, film, comedy and literature will be revealed by Green Man in the coming months.Tickets for Green Man Festival 2022 have already sold out, but you can find out more information about this year’s event by heading here.“We’re so excited about Green Man’s 20th birthday, and we’re planning to celebrate his big anniversary with lots of wonderful surprises and the best party ever!” Green Man boss Fiona Stewart previously said in a statement about this year’s festival.

The Long Blondes features in Kate Jackson’s new art installation.The installation, which is taking place at Leicester’s LCB Depot, is called ‘Built For Sound’ and features a new loop sound by the band.It was recored by Paul Mazzitelli at R10 Leicester and is the group’s first new work since they broke up back in 2008.Speaking about the project, Jackson, who was the group’s front woman, said: “I first had the idea for Built For Sound during the second lockdown. We spent a lot of time at home watching old reruns of Top of The Pops and I became fascinated with the architectural stage sets and neon lights built slightly differently for each episode.“I kept thinking about the stage without performers and how abstract these sets would seem, like works of art in themselves.”“At the time there were of course no live performances happening anywhere and I had a lot of friends (musicians, crew, agents and promoters) who were out of work and struggling because of the pandemic,” Jackson continued.“As we didn’t know when live performance would return, this is a space built in a gallery for filmed performance rather than live performances.

The Long Blondes have announced plans for a deluxe reissue of their 2006 debut album ‘Someone To Drive You Home‘.The Sheffield band are releasing a digital version and a double gatefold LP, pressed on to red and yellow vinyl to mirror the album’s artwork – a picture of actress Faye Dunaway also painted by frontwoman Kate Jackson. It is out on December 10 and you can pre-order the album here.Both editions will will feature the original record, plus 11 additional tracks that the band used as B-sides.
