The body of 26-year-old 'family man' Jack Johnson, described by loved ones as their 'mad scientist', was discovered in the Bridgewater Canal in Castlefield in December last year, two days after he had been last seen.

Today a coroner ruled his death was accidental but that it was 'contributed to by drug and alcohol use.'
