Country music icon Ronnie Dunn spoke about his upcoming album in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, saying it’s a return to the more traditional style of country music from the ’80s. Dunn’s seventh solo album, entitled "100 Proof Neon," is Dunn’s return to the kind of country music he grew up listening to, which he described as country music mixed in with a little bit of rock music, taking influence from bands like Paycheck and artists like Johnny Lee. In his experience, the most important thing about a song is how audiences respond to it and whether they can dance to it.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Toby Keith, whose history with the CMT Music Awards goes back to having co-hosted the earliest incarnation of the show, will get his due in the wake of his recent death, as an all-star salute is planned for Keith on Sunday night’s three-hour CBS telecast. The tribute will feature performances by one of the hottest figures in country music, Lainey Wilson, along with his fellow industry veterans Brooks & Dunn, whose Ronnie Dunn is a fellow Okie.

Jerry Lee Lewis will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The rock and roll star-turned-country music artist is being recognized as a "Veteran Era Artist." He had 34 Top 20 country hits between 1968 and 1981, according to the Country Music Association. The "Great Balls of Fire" singer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

Blake Shelton’s fans are NOT about to let haters ruin his new song!

Singer Ronnie Dunn spoke out in defense of his fellow country artist Blake Shelton after the latter caught backlash for his latest song.  Shelton was the subject of debate on social media after he debuted his new single, "Minimum Wage" during NBC’s New Year’s Eve televised event.The song, which he said is about his love of fiance Gwen Stefani, contains lyrics about being broke that made many people upset.  Not only was he criticized for writing a song about financial hardship during the coronavirus pandemic but many derided the "Voice" coach for singing about poverty when he is in fact a financially successful country artist.  Upset by the backlash that Shelton was getting, Dunn took to Twitter to share a lengthy note in the artist’s

Country singer-songwriter Ronnie Dunn — as well as many of Blake Shelton‘s fans — are jumping to The Voice coach’s defense after some people called his new song “Minimum Wage” “tone deaf,” in light of so many people being out of work while the 44-year-old is worth millions. Blake personally thanked Ronnie — who is also half of the duo Brooks and Dunn — and apparently got a supportive DM from former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar as well.
