Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentNetflix has set the launch date for “Borgen – Power & Glory,” the new version of the hit Danish political drama, for April 14 across the Nordics and on June 2 in the rest of the world.Directed by Per Fly, “Borgen – Power & Glory” brings back Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) who has just been appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs when a drilling company suddenly discovers oil in Greenland. The event sparks an international struggle for power in the Arctic.“The series deals with some of the biggest political issues of our time, as well the relevance of the Danish Realm in the modern world, the superpowers’ battle for control of the Arctic – and not least, the climate crisis,” said Netflix, which described “Power & Glory” as “a stand-alone continuation of the previous seasons of ‘Borgen.'” The streamer added that “the main story focuses on the struggle for power and what power does to people – both professionally and on a personal level.”Other prominent characters in “Power & Glory” will include Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) who was previously head of press.

In Danish political drama Borgen, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen plays a fearless journalist holding power to account. In real life, she’s been calling out government plans to tax streamers and suggesting tax incentives.

Borgen, the Danish political drama series from the makers of The Killing that's centered around a fictional female prime minister of Denmark, Birgitte Nyborg.While not technically a crime drama, Borgen season 4 cements itself firmly in the Scandi-noir category through its amped up characterization of lead character Nyborg (depicted by Sidse Babett Knudsen), whose ruthless tactics step up in this season. There's also political journalist Katrine Fønsmark, played by Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, who will stop at nothing to dish the dirt of the political going-ons. Since its release earlier this month on , the show has been getting stellar reviews on social media.

Borgen – Power & Glory, a fresh continuation of hit Danish political drama Borgen, has been set for release on Netflix April 14 in the Nordic markets and June 2 in the rest of the world. Netflix has also dropped first-look photos (see above and below).

Netflix is folding another internationally acclaimed drama into its roster. The streaming giant partnered with Danish public broadcaster DR to co-produce Season 4 of Borgen, coming in 2022.
