Met Office issue weather warning with torrential rain to hit parts of Greater Manchester for 18 hours straight

Parts of Greater Manchester could be hit by 18 hours of torrential rain on Monday and Tuesday. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for much of the North West of England.

Forecasters are warning the downpours could begin at around 6pm on Monday and continue until noon the following day. And with the ground already saturated from the wettest February on record, the Met Office say it could lead to 'some flooding and disruption'.

The warning covers parts of Bolton , Bury , Rochdale , Oldham and Tameside . Downpours will be heaviest over high ground. The Met Office warning says: "Rain, heavy at times, will arrive from the west later on Monday and persist until Tuesday late morning or early afternoon. "20 to 40 mm rain
