Man detained under Mental Health Act after body of 67-year-old woman found in house

A man has been detained under the Mental Health Act after a woman was found dead at a house in  Levenshulme. Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at a house on Westminster Street at around 8.30pm on Thursday (May 7).

Emergency services attended and a 67-year old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man has now been detained under the Mental Health Act, police said. A GMP spokesperson said: "The 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been detained under the Mental Health Act."
