Following the star's death from cancer in April 2021, it was known that somehow Aunt Polly would be written out of the story, with a marked commemoration of the legendary actress' death.
With season six's first episode 'Black Day', Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) returns in the same field we left him in at the end of the fifth instalment – gun to his head, ready to shoot.
However, when he pulls the trigger, he finds his gun empty of bullets, and wife Lizzie soon joins him, telling him Arthur (Paul Anderson), fearing the worst, had removed them.
