The Syrian refugee and film-maker who became an NHS cleaner during the pandemic said he is ‘massively relieved’ to have been granted the permanent right to remain in the UK.
The 33-year-old, who fled Damascus after being tortured by Assad’s regime, arrived in the UK in 2015, filming all 87 days of his perilous journey from Syria.
His film, Exodus: Our Journey to Europe, won a Bafta and an Emmy. Engineers have released designs for a 3D-printed blood-oxygen sensor that can be made at home.
It can be created by anyone with a 3D printer and basic electronic skills, and costs less than £10 to produce. The engineering graduate has created a robotic glove which uses artificial intelligence to boost muscle grip.
