Whiteabbey was diagnosed with BRCA1 positive, triple negative breast cancer in September 2020. A month later, doctors said the cancer had spread and Julie's life expectancy had reduced dramatically.
Julie had multiple cycles of chemotherapy and surgery, but her cancer started to grow again. So, a specialist consultant said she needed to urgently find a way to self-fund a drug that has been having promising results in clinical trials for her type of cancer.
Julie, a TV production co-ordinator who has worked on the likes of Derry Girls, had previously raised over £10,000 to help others with cancer.
Following encouragement from family and friends, she set up a GoFundMe on June 19, asking the public to help her raise money to gain access to.
