Gundogan had missed from 12 yards at Liverpool, with Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne missing this season. City had missed eight of their last 17 penalties before this one, so it was a relief when Rodri squeezed his kick underneath Hugo Lloris to give his side the lead.
