Jesse Lingard says Paul Pogba brought an instant confidence to Manchester United following his arrival at the club as a teenager.
Pogba joined United aged 16 from Le Havre in 2009 and was instrumental in their 2011 FA Youth Cup win before he went onto make his first-team debut at Leeds United the following season.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson never started Pogba, whereas he selected the unremarkable Zeki Fryers on three occasions, and infamously overlooked Pogba for the New Year's Eve defeat to Blackburn Rovers by starting Rafael da Silva and Ji-sung Park in midfield.
Paul Scholes was coaxed out of retirement a week later and Pogba soon decided to join Juventus on a pre-contract agreeement.
