From its announcement, “Rise of the Ronin” drew inevitable comparisons to Sucker Punch’s critically-acclaimed 2020 release “Ghost of Tsushima.” It’s understandable: although “Ronin” takes place about 600 years after “Ghost,” both follow samurai warriors in Japan as they swing their swords in an action-adventure open world.

Koei Tecmo has announced that its supernatural thriller game Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is also coming to PS5 and PS4.During the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase on June 12, Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja unveiled their new game and announced that it will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and Game Pass day one in early 2023.Today (June 14), the developer has confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will also be coming to PlayStation consoles.Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the story of a nameless militia soldier fighting to survive in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms.In this story, players will fight off enemies using swordplay based on the Chinese martial arts, as well as styles based on the “Five Phases”, and attempt to “overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.”The game will feature sword practitioners of Chinese martial arts that will showcase the shift between offensive and defensive manoeuvres. “Overwhelm opponents with a flurry of force in a series of intense and bloody battles while learning the precision and skill necessary to become a true master of the sword,” Koei said.Development of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is being led by Team Ninja producers Fumihiko Yasuda, who directed Nioh and its 2020 follow-up Nioh 2, as well as producer Masaaki Yamagiwa.

Team NINJA has announced that it is developing a new game set in the world of Romance Of The Three Kingdoms, in conjunction with producer and founder of Koei Tecmo, Kou Shibusawa.To celebrate the 40 years since Kou Shibusawa (then known as Youichi Erikawa) founded Koei, Famitsu has announced he will be working on developing a new title based on the world of the long established Romance Of The Three Kingdoms series, which already had 14 games to its name. The series is based on an epic 14th century novel attributed to Luo Guanzhong.Team NINJA, who works under the Koei Tecmo parent company, has previously made several games in collaboration with the Kou Shibusawa team, including Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Nioh games.

Wanted: Dead was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show and is being developed by Soleil. The game is set to release next year.Wanted: Dead is set in a sci-fi Hong Kong, where players take control of a cyborg police officer armed with swords and guns.

Epic Games Store’s latest weekly giveaway has begun, and one of the games currently up for grabs is Nioh: The Complete Edition.Nioh: The Complete Edition is the collection of the base game plus all of the DLC, which was originally released in 2017. Nioh is an action game from Team NINJA and Koei Tecmo games that has aspects of the Dark Souls series.

Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo have implemented a new graphics update for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection on PC. The new settings arrive one month after the official launch of the game (June 10) and will look to address a number of issues users had on release. Ninja Theory has shared details on the process behind the upcoming game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.In the latest video, Tameem Antoniades – ‘Chief Creative Ninja’ at Ninja Theory – dives deep into the work going on behind the scenes for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.Antoniades shares that Team Ninja wants it to be “extra real and brutal” talking about the in-game combat. To do so, lead actress Melina Juergens has been training for the last two years and Team Ninja has shared that “all of our animators have undergone combat training”. According to the video above, significant work has ensured that the game includes a high-quality setting.

Nioh and Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja is reportedly working on a Final Fantasy spin-off for Square Enix.Noted industry insider and leaker Navtra had first alleged that such a game was in the works in posts on the ResetEra forum over the weekend. The user’s claims have since been corroborated by “sources” from video game news publication Fanbyte.According to the outlet’s sources, the forthcoming Final Fantasy spin-off will be titled Final Fantasy Origin and will supposedly be one of the “tentpoles” of Square Enix’s forthcoming showcase at the digital E3 event in June.
