2018 World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson has suffered a horrific injury while going for his bench press personal record this week.The 34-year-old, who was the World’s Strongest Man in 2018 as well as runner up three-times and third-place getter another four times, was on the return to powerlifting after a two-year hiatus to pursue boxing.Bjornsson, who holds the world deadlift record of 1,104lbs, announced he was making a comeback to strongman competitions in order to break a number of records.But he’ll have to wait after reportedly tearing his pectoral muscle off the bone while bench pressing 556lbs.At his Thor Power Gym, the man known for portraying The Mountain in the hit HBO series had lifted some huge weights — starting 507lb, doing 529lb and an attempt at his all-time PB of 116lb.However, it all went wrong as Bjornsson lowered the weight to his chest as he screamed out in pain after a noise viewers believe was the sound of the muscle tearing off the bone.Bjornsson’s spotters quickly came to the strongman’s aid and it was clear something was very wrong.One person said: “Saw this live, absolutely devastating.
