shoppers are planning to spend an average of £162 online in the post-Christmas and January sales. As a result of the Level 4 lockdown restrictions, non-essential shops will once again be closed in an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19, which means that much of the bargain hunting will be taking place online.
Research from Barclaycard found that clothes and shoes are at the top of people's sales wishlists, followed by food and drink, homeware and stationery.
A third (33%) of people also plan to spend more in the post-Christmas sales than they did during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with the main reason being the belief that the festive deals are better.
