A man has been charged with murder after a man died following an alleged attack in a park in Old Trafford. Headley Barry Thomas, known as Barry, was found unconscious with severe head injuries next to a bench in Penn Park, off Maher Gardens, on September 12 in 2022.
On October 2 that year, the 51-year-old tragically died of his injuries. Greater Manchester Police launched a murder investigation and issued a number of appeals for help to track down the person responsible for the alleged attack.

The 29-year-old, of no fixed abode, is due to appear at Mancehster Magistrates' Court today. The force statement said: "Charges have been brought following the 2022 murder of Headley “Barry” Thomas.
