The Argentine striker made his farewell appearance at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, scoring a brace in the thrashing of Everton.
That saw Aguero surpass Wayne Rooney's record of most Premier League goals for a single club and he could still cap off his spell with City with Champions League glory.
Finding a striker capable of having the same impact as Aguero will be no easy task but Hughes believes Kane can be that man, stating that he expects City to be in the running for the England captain.
