Large emergency service response after barn fire at Wigan farm

Emergency services responded to the blaze at a barn on Lawns Avenue, in Orrell, shortly after 5.45pm on Wednesday (April 21).

Crews from Greater Manchester and Lancashire tackled the fire, which involved a 35m by 10m barn on the property. Homes within 200m of the farm were advised to keep their windows and doors shut.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus brought the flames under control with jets and hose reels. The blaze was under control by 9.20pm.
