The 53-year-old was admitted to hospital in March last year with Covid-19 symptoms and was later placed into an induced coma.
Derek is now thought to be the UK's longest surviving Covid-19 inpatient as he remains in a form of coma called a PDOC (Prolonged Disorder of Consciousness).
Kate has since revealed the virus "wreaked havoc" throughout Derek's entire body, resulting in kidney failure, liver and pancreatic damage.
